About the Libertas Society
The Libertas Society, founded in February of this year, is a campus-wide organization built for cultural, political, and media action: an instrument for quick, flexible, and mobilized response from the social conservative Christian community. Sponsored by the Leadership Institute as a Family Values Club, and built on the foundations of PHC's Students for Marriage chapter, the Libertas Society is non-partisan and works on issues-campaigning (not candidate campaigning). Our work covers issues like civic virtue, religious liberty, and constitutional rights: in short, the ideals of our founding founders and of true liberty.
Here's how the society works. Regular meetings will be held in the Libertas Society, where members compare notes on all issues of concern to social conservatives that have recently arisen in the nation, state, or community. Every member is assigned an issue-category to monitor throughout the week (e.g., "homosexual marriage," "home schooling," etc.); so each member has an simple objective that can be easily tracked through feeds like Google Alerts. As a member, you can propose projects that may be approved by the whole body. If the project is ratified, the society's Cabinet will package the issue into a project for the whole society (like a rally, an editorial campaign, an organized trip to a legislative office, etc.).
Meetings. Our first public meeting will occur on Wednesday, 14 March at 8:00 PM. Further details (like the place of meeting) are still be solidified. If you are interested in attending, please email president@libertassociety.org.
